Eczema, also known as Atopic Dermatitis, appears as red, scaly patches that can be warm and tender to the touch. Eczema is most common in children, but can affect adults. There is no certain cause of this skin condition, but studies have shown that children are more likely to suffer from Eczema if they have asthma, hay fever, or if their parents have experienced Eczema. Genes and one’s immune system may have a part in causing Eczema and can also influence the severity of the condition.
