Melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, causes pigment-producing cells inthe skin to grow uncontrollably. This may cause an irregular mole to form somewhere on the skin, or it could build off of an existing mole, causing it to quickly grow larger and more erratic. When caught early on, Melanoma is often a highly curable form of cancer. However, it gets more dangerous the longer it is allowed to develop, so seeing your dermatologist as soon as symptoms appear is important for a full recovery. Dr. Alexander will design an individualized treatment plan to destroy the cancer cells and prevent future ones from forming.
