Shingles is a viral infection that can have a painful and disruptive effect on your life. After your body has dealt with chicken pox, as a child or as an adult, the same virus lies dormant in your body and can be reactivated at a later date, even years down the road. However, during the virus’s second act, it does not appear as chicken pox, but shingles. Rashes or clusters of blisters may form on the skin and patients may experience some light headaches and flu like symptoms.
