About Pityriasis Rosea at Jeff Alexander M.D. Dermatology
Pityriasis rosea is a common skin condition that causes an itchy, raised rash thatusually appears on the chest, abdomen or back. It usually appears as one large oval shaped patch, known as the mother or herald patch, surrounded by many smaller patches, known as daughter patches. Pityriasis rosea will most likely fade away on its own after 6-10 weeks, though it has been known to last much longer. Dr. Alexander will be able to suppress the itching and help manage your discomfort for a more enjoyable, pityriasis rosea-free life.
